Speaker: Heather from Fibrex Nurseries
Heather will talk to us about ‘Growing Pelargoniums’. The Fibrex Nurseries is a family run nursery near Stratford-upon-Avon which holds the National Collections of Pelargoniums and Hedera, she is very knowledgeable about here plants. We are hoping that she will bring some plants to sell.
The Fibrex Nursery is featured in the April edition of the RHS magazine The Garden.
Last Month
Mick Poultney entertained us with his unique take on making compost which he himself admitted was an obsession. We did learn many tips, all sorts of rubbish, spent hops, goat manure, worm casts, it can all go on the compost. Worms are the secret according to Mick, they need lots of moisture but don’t like citrus peeling.
A DATE FOR YOUR DIARIES
Wormsley Estate is opening their Walled Garden to the public on Friday 17th Mary 5-8pm. There is no need to book. £5.00 entry. I will give you more details in the May Newsletter.
VISITS. We now have details of two more visits for you.
Sandy Primrose’s Garden. 21 Amersham Road, High Wycombe, Bucks HP13 6QS. You will remember Sandy gave us a talk at the end of last year on Low Maintenance Gardening, so we can now visit his garden and see his advice in action and the plants he uses to achieve his aim. I’m sure we can get lots of ideas.
The cost is £10.00 for members and £12.00 for non-members. This includes a glass of wine, tea, coffee and cake. Time 7pm (Sandy works) It should be very interesting.
We will be going in our cars. Rides will be arranged closer to the date. Booking Form below.
Bourton House Garden near Morton-in-Marsh is our coach trip
This is a 3 acre garden which has won several prizes. It includes topiary, water features, a knot garden, herbaceous borders with inspirational planting, stunning colour combinations and rare, unusual and exotic plants and an unusual shade house. There is a café for light lunches and plant and gift sales. Picnics are not allowed.
The date is of the visit is Thursday 11th July and the cost is £20.00 for members and £22.50 for non-members, including the coach. On arrival we will have a talk from the head gardener.
Malverleys Gardens, East End, nr. Newbury, RG20 0AA.
On Thursday 20th June in the afternoon, the entrance is £10.00 and £12.00 for non-members, which includes tea and cake. There is a maximum of 40 places. The Booking From is below.
