NEWS LETTER DECEMBER 2019
Next Meeting
Wednesday 4th December at 7.45 in Watlington Town Hall
Speaker: Howard Drury (with wine & mince pies)
Howard Drury will tell us about John Massey’s garden, a 3 acre garden that has been designed to look good all year round, hence his talk’s title: Making Autumn Last Till Christmas. The garden was featured in a Channel 5 programme in June this year, hosted by Carol Klein which you might have seen. She visited in each season to show off how good it always looked.
As it is our ‘Christmas’ meeting we will be serving wine and not tea and coffee and to make it more festive mince pies too
Last Month:
Brian Fisher, whose talk was called Making the Best of a Greenhouse, Cloches and Frames, told us about the different types of cloches and frames going back to the early part of the last century and about his passion for green houses old and new.
Visits: We are planning to offer a trip to see John Massey’s Garden (which is only open for a few selected dates in the year) and Ashwood Nurseries, which are next door, sometime next year. We hope that Howard’s talk will inspire you to want to visit. We will have a board up at the meeting for you to express your interest and to give an indication of when you would prefer to visit.
