I thought I'd get in touch just to see how you are all doing and start discussing the future of the Gardening Club.
I hope you are all fine and not too bored with all the lockdown, Graham and I are both well and we are finding our lives are little changed, we never did much nor went out much before anyway, although we have missed our foreign holiday.
In normal times there are various things which we would be deciding:
Summer Social: do you think, to cheer people up, it might be possible to have a small get together of those members who want to come in someone's garden, with drinks, individual packets of crisps or some such and no tombola or prepared finger food? We'd have to cancel it if it was wet as we could not move indoors.
Committee Meeting: Our next meeting was to be 5th August, I think it would be sensible not to have it and cover anything that needs deciding via email
Speaker Meetings: Do we want to look at resuming our meetings in September? Would anyone come? We don't want to bring in a speaker if there only about 10 members. At a normal meeting we were having between 25-35 or so people, even with far fewer it will be impossible to keep any sort of distance at the Town Hall. We could look at moving to the Watlington Club (old Memorial Club) their hall is much bigger. We would have to make changes to how we manage the meetings if we did decide to give them a try.
Subscriptions: As long as we have no activities we do not need to think about them. But when we do start again, I would suggest we charge only £15.00 for the year to make up for the lost meetings this year.
I know that no clubs in Watlington have yet made any firm arrangements to re-start their meetings, so maybe this is all a bit premature.
Please do all get back to me with your thoughts. You can always call if you want as well 01419 612 368, I'm always (almost) here.
