Speaker: Andrew Mikolaski Andrew Mikolaski, who is a garden writer and speaker will give us a talk titled Plants for Shade. Gardeners often wonder what to plant in a shady spot, we all have them, in fact the possibilities are endless. So look at your shady areas, note the gaps that need filling and get ideas from Wednesday’s talk.
Last Month: Paul Green gave us an enthusiastic talk about Seasonal Planting, and used the plants he brought with him to ‘illustrate‘ his talk and explain their characteristics and requirements. His talk encouraged our members to buy a good quantity of plants he brought.
GARDEN VISITS: We have one more garden visit later in June. PETIFFERS. Church Close, Wardington, Banbury, OX17 1RU on Thursday 26th June at 2.30. A beautiful garden with numerous borders, different levels, hedges, and yew topiary. It was featured last year on Gardeners World. If you’d like to go and have not yet signed up the booking for is attached.
You might remember we offered return visits to St Timothee for a Talk & Walk on 12th June. There has been a cancellation so if anyone else would like to take up this place it is £20 to include a talk by the owner Sarah on Creating a Garden for All Season, tea & yummy cake!! Plus garden wander with Sarah (& Plants to buy - all in aid of NGS). Speak to Jo or me about it.
PLANT TABLE There will be a Plant table this month so if you have anything spare bring it along. And don’t forget to bring cash to buy some plants too.
OPEN GARDENS The NGS has a group open garden in Christmas Common on 14th June 13.00 – 18.00. https://ngs.org.uk/gardens/christmas-common-gardens-ox49/ It includes Zelda’s garden where have had socials in the past and two other gardens. It is very local.
RARE PLANT FAIR Waterperry is holding a Rare Plant Fair on Sunday 8th June, 10am-4pm.
Next meeting: In July, on Wednesday 2nd we are holding our Summer Social. This year it is in Mei Jiou’s garden. All the details will be in the July Newsletter.
