NEWS LETTER MARCH 2018
Next Meeting
Wednesday 7th March at 7.45pm in Watlington Town Hall
Speaker: Rosi Rollings
The title of Rosi Rollings talk is ‘Plants for Bees; How bee friendly is your garden?
Rosi runs the Rosebee Nursery in East Hanney and she is also a bee keeper. She has combined the two interests to discover which of all the plants recommended for bees are actually the best.As bees need all the help they can get this should be a very useful talk.
Last Month
Unfortunately I could not come to last month’s meeting, but I understand that after a panic with the projector things were solved in the end and Colin Roberts, the head gardener at Adwell House, was able to give his talk ‘The Gardens at Adwell House and Salvias’ and it was well received.
Tea and Coffee
As the idea of serving tea and coffee before the meeting last month so as to fill in the waiting time proved to be successful we are going to give it a try again for March to see how it goes. So there will be tea and coffee served when you come in.
VISITS.
The booking form for the coach trip to Miserdon Park Gardens is below for anyone who wants to register. The Garden is in the Cotswolds with views over the rolling hills, magnificent mixed borders with roses, clematis, shrubs and herbaceous plants, topiary, a yew walk designed by Lutyens. There are hour long circular walks, a café and a plant nursery. The coach trip takes about 1.1/2 hours and the date we have chosen is Wednesday 11th July. The cost, including coach, entrance, an introductory talk and a map of the gardens, is £25.00 for members.
It is not a NT property so no discount I’m afraid.
