Amber Hine will talk about Naturalistic Planting. She is a garden designer and her talk will examine at the rising popularity of looking to nature to design our natural spaces. She will take a look at the wonder of perennials, meadows and woodland edges.
February 2026 Last month, given the title “Vegetables – Grow Yourself Happy, we were expecting a talk about growing vegetables and although there was some information on leeks, Kathy Slack explained to us how as a high-flying advertising executive she had a breakdown and she described how growing vegetables helped her recover.
GARDEN VISITS: Just to remind you that we have provisionally booked a visit for Thursday 25th June in the afternoon, to Kiftsgate so you can mark it in your diary.
Bledlow Ridge Horticultural Society, another reminder, we have received an invitation from them to join an all-day coach trip to Hidcote and Bourton Houses, the date is Tuesday 7th July. I will give you more information closer to the date.

FREE COMPOST SODC is offering free compost to residents in March. Details:

Collect up to three bags of compost per household.

GARDEN WASTE PERMIT If you have an SODC garden waste permit don’t forget that it expires 31 March 2026. To renew you can buy online, it is quick and easy – just visit South Oxfordshire garden waste page. When the new permit arrives, keep your current sticker on your bin until after your last March collection. You can then remove it and place the new permit on the bin lid. If you’re not able to remove your old perm it, just stick your new one over it.
PLANT TABLE We will have a Plant Table this month. It is a bit early in the year, but if you have any plants to spare do bring them.
