Speaker: John Amand
John Amand’s talk is titled ‘Useful Bulbs and How they Get to your Garden’.
He has a Nursery in north London that specializes in bulbs; it has an enormous collection so it is a place to look if there is something unusual you want. I am sure he will be giving us lots of useful knowledge.
Last Month
With her talk ‘In Praise of Apples’, Charlotte Popescu gave us a history of the apple and how it has appeared in history, legend and art for thousands of years.
Plant Table: As things are now growing fast in the garden I hope you can bring along some plants to sell at our plant table, and bring your purse so you can buy some too.
Plants Fair: On Sunday May 27th there is a Rare Plant Fair at Bagpuize House, Abingdon.
And the Wallingford Garden Plant sale will be in the Market Place 9:00am-12:00pm on Saturday 12thMay selling plants and vegetables ready for your gardens.
VISITS.
The coach trip to Miserdon Park Gardens on Wednesday 11th July costs £25.00 for members including coach, entrance, an introductory talk and a map of the gardens.
Rosybee Nursery in East Hanney (OX12 0HS) on Wednesday 27th June at 3pm includes a bee identification workshop with Rosi Rollings, tea and bee friendly plants to buy. The price is £4.00 for members. There are a maximum of 15 places and transport is car share.
The Old Rectory nr. Wantage (OX12 8NX) on Tuesday 19th June at 2.30pm. It has are a series of immaculately tended garden rooms, herbaceous borders, arboretum, boules, shady garden, pool,vegetables and a new Bog Garden. The entrance fee for members is £7.00 including tea. Again car share transport.
Registration Forms for all visits are below. Cheques should be made out to Watlington Gardening Club and completed forms and cheques should be handed to Liz Gordon at the meeting or posted to her at April Cottage, 6 Stonor Green, Watlington OX49 5PT
