I hope you are all well, vaccinated and ready for a bit more freedom. How have your gardens survived the frosts? I've lost several plants and have not dared replace them yet. I also hope you have managed to join some of the Zoom talks I've forwarded to you all from time to time.
This is to let you know Gardening Club has not disappeared. In fact the Committee has been discussing re-starting some Club activities.
SUMMER SOCIAL: We are planning a summer social in Jo Dudley's garden in Radnage on Wednesday 7th July, in the evening, which is the first Wednesday of the month and when it would be in a normal year. So put the date in your diaries. Closer to the date I will give you all the details you need. You will remember we had a really lovely evening there in 2019.It will allow us to get to know each other again.
SPEAKER MEETINGS: We are hoping to re-start them in September if Covid restrictions make it possible, the date would be Wednesday 1st September. We still have to work through various issues and safety measures. We may choose to change the location as the Town Hall is rather cramped and social distancing would be difficult.
If we manage to meet we will have a short AGM before the meeting starts. Like other organisations we have been dormant and missed last year's meeting.
From now on all payments to the Gardening Club should be by bank transfer or BACS, either via internet or telephone banking direct tot the Club's bank account. Members who do not have these banking facility will be able to post a cheque. We need to avoid handling money and bits of paper.
Again as soon as we have more details I'll let you know. GARDEN VISITS: We are arranging a couple of mid-week private local garden visits in June and July. Due to Covid restrictions, members will have to drive themselves or arrange their own transport. You will be charged the garden entrance fee. Refreshments might be available at an extra cost.
We have tentatively booked our first visit on Tuesday 22nd June in the afternoon, It is a private afternoon visit to the garden of Mary Roadnight in Britwell Salome to include afternoon tea…https://ngs.org.uk/view-garden/35309 We need at least 10 people to sign up. The cost (in aid of NGS & Mali Development) is £10pp inc tea & cake
If you are interested could you contact Jo directly. Or you can contact me too, so we know if we have the numbers to go ahead. Payment will have to be as outlined above, by cheque in the post of bank transfer.
We are also looking at organising trips to Ewleme estate & Chalgrove Manor.
It would be helpful for planning purposes if you could indicate if you might be interested (without commitment) in joining one or more of these visits.
