NEWS LETTER OCTOBER 2019
Next Meeting
Wednesday 2nd October at 7.45 in Watlington Town Hall
Speaker: Paul Barney
Paul’s talk is called ‘In Search of Unusual Edibles’ He will describe his search for new edible plants to grow and will focus on the Indian sub-continent and some of the strange but useful plants he found there. He runs the nursery Edulis Plants.
Last Month we had our AGM. It was a routine meeting and no major changes were voted on. All the Committee members were re-elected and Jean Orpwood was confirmed as Treasurer. The cost of the Membership remains unchanged.
Afterwards there was a short discussion and show of hands in reply to various questions as to why we did not get enough people signing up to the coach trip this summer to make it viable. The results were inconclusive.
There followed a talk by Carol Petipher on ‘Monet’s Garden at Giverny’. She gave us a brilliant presentation, she is an art lecturer and has worked as a guide at Giverny so she understood its importance to Monet as an artist.
BOOKS FOR SALE
John Rawston has donated several gardening books to the Gardening Club to help our funds, so we will be selling them at the meeting. They belonged to his wife Sally who sadly died last year and who had a lovely long garden behind her house in the High Street. They used to open it for the Open Gardens.
