As you know Billy Stott is the owner of Stotts Nursery in Ibstone which we visited in 2020 and his talk is titled Travels of a Horticultural Student - Billy recounts his tales for the horticultural trade from student to nursery owner. He will also be bringing plants to sell, so please do bring some money with you, in case he does not have electronic payment set up. Last Month we had our AGM. It was a routine meeting and no major changes were voted on. All the Committee members were re-elected. The cost of the Membership remains unchanged. There followed a talk by Sandy Primrose titled Daises, Dahlias and Dendranthemas - An introduction to the Aster family and their roles in agriculture and medicine. ‘Dendranthemas ‘ turned out to be Chrysanthemums. He is an accomplished speaker and it was interesting. If you were expecting a talk about how to grow the plants it was not that at all but full of anecdotes, information, and history. MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTIONS. They are still £18.00.If possible we would like you to pay directly into our bank account below and put your name in the reference box so Jean knows whose payment it is.: Watlington Gardening Club, Lloyds Bank, Sort code 30-98-56, A/C no. 00496266. If you do not have internet banking please bring your completed cheque made out to Watlington Gardening Club to the meeting or post it to: Jean Orpwood, Woods Farm, Watlington OX49 5HD. As I explained last month we will not be issuing the card with the list of speakers as they future is still uncertain so the speakers have not yet been booked for the whole year. The new Membership form is at the end of the newsletter. Please post it to me with your cheque or bring it to the next meeting. If you are paying at the meeting, it will be a great help if you could write your cheque and fill in the form before arriving at the meeting so we do not get a big queue building up at the door which may hold up the start of the meeting. We will have extra forms at the meeting for those who cannot print it out.
BOOKS FOR SALE John Rawston has donated several gardening books to the Gardening Club to help our funds, so we will be selling them at the meeting. They belonged to his wife Sally who sadly died last year and who had a lovely long garden behind her house in the High Street. They used to open it for the Open Gardens.
