NEWSLETTER MAY 2022 Next Meeting - Wednesday 4th May at 7.45 in the Sports Pavilion OX49 5BZ Speaker: Patricia Holt Patricia Holt will talk to us about The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. She has been to talk to the Club on several occasions in the past and she is an accomplished speaker. Last Meeting: Given the subject, Andrew Halstead gave us a surprisingly interesting talk “Beneficial Insects in the Garden”.It is red in tooth and claw out there among insects in our gardens although the greenfly seem to be at the bottom of the food chain, everything seems to attack them… VISITS: So far take up has been slow, so don’t forget our visit to Savill Gardens on Thursday 19th May, to arrive at 11am. 11.30 am Guided tour round the garden taking approx 1 hour. This is a car share trip. The address is: Savill Gardens, Wick Lane, Englefield Green, Egham TW20 0UJ. It takes about an hour to get there. There are several eating places too for lunch. The cost is £14.00 for Gardening Club members and £16.00 for visitors. This is in fact a bargain as the normal entry fee is £14.95 and car parking is £3.00/hour. At the next meeting there will be a chart for you to indicate if you can give lifts or if you would like a lift.
Our next Garden visit is St Timothee Garden on Thursday June 30th. It will include a full talk. It has been named as the best NGS garden by House and Garden. We have not yet finalized details so I will email you when we have.
